Six months ago today we lost our sweet Maggie girl to cancer. She was the best dog in the entire world and we miss her every day. She fought so hard. Maggie had her first surgery when she was barely a year old. The vet assumed the big tumor was only a fatty tumor because of her age and he never sent anything for pathology. Within a few months the tumor was back, bigger than ever. After talking with several vets we decided to take her to Houston to a team of specialists there. We will always be grateful to Dr. Heidi Hottinger who spent hours saving Maggie's leg. Maggie lost her shoulder blade, 4 ribs, and 5 spinus processes. After a really bad time of radiation Maggie recovered and thrived for 6 1/2 more years. In the spring of 2005, Maggie's leg, the bad one, broke. She had to undergo another major surgery to have pins, screws, and a plate put in. She recovered from that surgery quite well. She was fine until just a few weeks before she passed away. Her cancer came back and attacked her lungs with a vengeance. On July 24, 2006 we knew Maggie was suffering and we made the hardest decision to have her put to rest. The appointment was scheduled for tha afternoon. Maggie must have known we were ready to let her go. She passed away in R's arms at home that morning. We think of her and miss her every day.

What a beautiful girl, and such a fighter. I know your lives will always be better for having had Maggie in it. Lots of love to you!
