Almost, Again

Our agency receives a list of about 40 special needs children every 2 months or so. When they have a child that doesn't directly match a family's checklist or a child whose needs are more severe, they place the child on the website. Regardles of where you are in line you can request to see the child's file and decide if she is right for your family by consulting doctors and specialists. Well, there was a beautiful, sweet little girl who was almost 5 on the website. I showed her to R. and he told me to get her file. I called CCAI and her file had already been sent to a family. They typically only allow 1 family at a time to view a file. A week or so later we received an email with her file. We sent her file to a specialist for review that day. We talked with him early the next morning, decided we wanted to pursue her, and called CCAI before they even opened. We called again after they opened and found out that another family had committed to her the night before.......they had sent her file to several families because her time was running out before they had to return her file to China. We were crushed, but we both realized that the most important thing is she find her forever family.
What an emotional roller coaster this adoption stuff is! OYE!
