Summer Palace

Wow! What an awesome day! We took a cab with Jeff and Leah to the Summer Palace. It was a pretty long drive but the cab was less than $9 for all 5 of us! Sean and I ended up going ahead and we explored MILES of the Palace Gardens! It was amazing and I have created a montage to share the pictures with you. Sean was such a trooper and never complained even though we must have put in over 5 miles of rigorous climbing. He said it was our pre-Great Wall training!

We went to dinner at a restaurant just across the street. That may sound easy but, until you have tried crossing a street in Beijing, don't knock it! OYE!!!!! We had a heaping plate of fried rice, a bowl of steamed rice and some chicken in chili sauce----all for about $15US! Including 3 bottles of water! Then we went to a grocery store to pick up some water for our room, came back and are all about to crash for the night. We are meeting our group and guide in the lobby at 9am to do the city tour. It soundds like it will be a very busy day! I am really looking forward to seeing such historical sights.....

Beijing is GREAT you'll enjoy your stay there . Lot of great sights to visit and see . I personally liked the hotel in Beijing the best as well . Thought the bed's at the White Swan were the hardest ones.
